Hope the crowd goes easy on SV...I foresee Nerdrage  :o

I'll be in there. I'm not going to buy another Darkfall so I really want to test the OB.

That's where I'm at in the whole process.  I won't buy another Darkfall on the promise that the great ideas on paper are in the game without actually seeing them.

MO's ideas on paper are written in gold ink.  They're golden ideas.  I've taken those ideas on paper and created a mental image of how they 'should' play out.  Nothing ever lives up to what the mind can create, but it better get close.

As a player of both DF and MO i have to tell you MO is lacking much much more than DF was at launch...no comparison vs DF after 1 year of polish.

Dont preorder, play the open beta and figure it out yourselves.

That's pretty much what I was afraid of. Thanks for the heads up, Nacho.

Despite appearances, they're very different games. Mortal is closer to UO than Darkfall is.

I like Darkfall except for the goofy politics and ARAC guilds.

It seems MO is a complete free for all pvp wise?

It has a complicated flagging system and people that are red receive a small stat loss when they die.

I am going to play Open Beta, but just because I can. I think I will reserve judgement until I actually try a released product, probably ~6 mo after it is released.

In any event, this torrent is super slow. I left it on over night, and it's STILL not done.

Bought the game last night.  It put me in some random sea side town which is absolutely breathtaking.  So far I've only walked and swam around this little seaside town gazing up at the sky and birds....a fortress off in the far distantace.  I think I have actually wandered into some player made houses which are very, very well done and seem to have been built just outside of the town yet still on the sea.

I would say, for me at least, this game is nothing like DF.  I don't think I have ever seen anything quite as hellish as DF's beta/open beta.  Still have yet to try so many things but getting a very good vibe.

It's going to have an interesting political and city building system.

Seeing as how people can build villages and little towns anywhere they want, cities can be moving or clustered together in various locations.

Haha you need to play a bit more and then re-visit this comment.

No to mention the territorial control boundaries that come with House building.

Hopefully its different enough in important ways. I knows its going to share a lot of Darkfall qualities.  ;)
